Abstract

The quantitative rise of problems in the Slovak judiciary symbolically derived from the number of years of the existence of Slovakia does not mean that it has come to the acute crisis of the Slovak judiciary. It is only an effort to provide a more complex look at those problems. They are methodologically divided into five areas, namely the judiciary understood as a judicial power in a democratic country governed by the rule of law (i.), legitimacy of judges (ii.), principles in judiciary from the institutional and procedural point of view (iii.), system of the courts and their administration (iv.) and interactions between the courts and the society (v.).
