Historical and Civil Law Analysis of a Scientific Message and Activity of the Professor Karol Plank

Abstract

Karol Plank performed activity of a civil law professor at the Faculty of Law at the Comenius University in years 1950 until 1993. Scientifically, he devoted in particular to problem of property law (it can be specifically mentioned the law of succession, property relations between married couple, housing law, or particularities of law of obligations in a socialist society and a field of insurance relations). The objective study sets a goal to analyse scientific work of Plank, including his integration into the context of then jurisprudence. However, at the same time, on the ground of application of historical methods, the author also tries to evaluate Plank’s pedagogical activity, including examination of reached results in various academic functions in view of the history of legal education.
